Nibi Miskwaabik Kwe is an authentic indigenous interpretive education tour rooted in Anishinaabe knowledge to support the good work carried out by Debwendon at the Brokenhead Wetland Interpretive Trail.
Dates and Times: 2024 tours will occur mid-August to late September on Sundays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Location: The Brokenhead Wetland Interpretive trail is approximately one hour away from Winnipeg. From Winnipeg drive north on PTH 59 past Brokenhead Ojibway Nation. From PR 304 (Stead Road), continue north approximately 2 km – the access is on the west side of the highway. Coming from the north on PTH 59, turn right off the highway approximately 500 m south of the PTH 12 intersection.
Skill level: Beginner to intermediate. Completing the trail takes 2+ hours with guided stops along the way.
Accessibility: The trail is wheelchair accessible and parking is available.
Pricing: $50 per person
Important Information: Please dress for the weather, remember sunscreen, insect repellent, and a water bottle. There are washrooms available at the trailhead.
Booking for Groups: We have limited each tour date/group to a maximum of 6 participants in an effort to provide the most sustainable and enjoyable experience for participants. Our booking system will not process numbers above the limit set, we appreciate your understanding.
Before we begin each Trail Tour at the Brokenhead Wetland, participants are required to sign a waiver on site. We appreciate your understanding.
We reserve the right to cancel due to unsafe weather conditions or other occurrences beyond our control. In the event that we must cancel a scheduled tour the participants will be notified by email. Trail Tours operate rain or shine so if the weather is not dangerous we will go ahead as scheduled. If a tour date does not have five participants we will consider rescheduling to another date to ensure the best use of resources within the community and to respect the Brokenhead Wetland, you will be contacted directly should this occur.
